Key Considerations

Why would I need one?

Well, if you’ve ever put dirty nappies in your usual kitchen or bathroom bin, you’ll know it’s not long before the poo smell starts to percolate.

But you don’t want to trek to the outside bin after every nappy change, especially since newborns need up to 12 changes a day. You’re too busy looking after it’s probably raining!

That’s why we invented our nappy disposal systems. They let you get rid of dirty nappies quickly and conveniently in your home, without having to endure that warm-nappy whiff when they start to build up.

And, because there’s no smell, you only have to empty the bin when it’s full, meaning fewer trips outside in your slippers. You’re welcome!

How do they stop smells?

Each bin uses multi-layer antibacterial film to wrap nappies, kill germs and stop bad smells from spoiling the atmosphere at home.

The film kills 99% of dangerous germs like e-coli and Staphylococcus Aureus on contact, and stops bacteria from breaking down the poo, which is a major source of the smells. Because it is multi-layer, it makes it even harder for odours to escape.

This neutralises even the nastiest nappies and gives you double protection against germs and odour.

What’s the difference between the bins?

Tommee Tippee Simplee Sangenic Nappy Disposal System is a brilliantly simple way to banish bad smells with a single push. Just open the bin, push the nappy through the smart lid and close. Nappies are whisked away into antibacterial film, which kills 99.9% of germs on contact, and the clever smart lid stops any nasty smells from escaping.

Tommee Tippee Twist & Click Advanced Nappy Disposal System and Tommee Tippee Sangenic Tec Nappy Disposal System individually seal each dirty nappy in antibacterial film, for unbeatable odour protection. Imagine a string of sausages and you’re not far off! Drop the nappy into the bin, twist the handle and feel the click. The nappy is completely sealed so no smells escape, even when it’s time to empty the bin.

What styles are available?

We know you didn’t spend all that time choosing colours for the nursery just to have a big ugly bin ruin the vibe, so our bins come in a variety of on-trend colours, subtle hues and classic white.

There are three styles of bin available, the Twist and Click, Simplee Sangenic and Sangenic Tec nappy disposal systems, with different capacities, colours and design - so you can choose the one that best matches your space, needs and décor.

Whichever you choose, they all do the same top-notch job of sealing away smells and protecting your home from odour and germs.

Does the bin come with a cartridge already fitted or do I have to buy one separately?

Our new bins come with a cartridge to get you started. After that, you can buy refills online, at leading supermarkets and baby care retailers.

How do the cartridges fit in?

We sell three styles of bin and each one is slightly different. We think it is pretty simple but know that bleary eyes and baby brain can make even the easiest things into a real head scratcher.

Your bin comes with easy-to-follow drawings showing how to fit the cartridge. We’ve also got information online in case the instructions get lost. If you’re really stuck, give us a call and we’ll walk you through it.

When the cartridge of film is used up, you simply replace it with a new one and pop the empty one in your recycling bin.

Can I use any cartridge?

All Tommee Tippee cartridges are tough on germs, killing 99.9% of dangerous bacteria on contact, and multi-layered to make sure bad smells can’t escape. But the systems have slightly different ways to seal and secure the nappy, so you’ll need to select the right Tommee Tippee cartridge for your bin.

How many nappies does a bin hold?

We have different size bins to suit different size families and homes.

  • Twist & Click – up to 30
  • Sangenic Tec – up to 28
  • Simplee Sangenic – up to 18

These numbers are just a guide though, because it depends on the size of the nappy you’re using. Teeny size one nappies obviously take up less space than nappies for older babies.

What size of nappies are they suitable for?

Our bins are designed to accept babies’ nappies from newborn. They aren’t suitable for larger nappies because of the size of the opening into the bin. After baby has outgrown nappies, you can use the bins for other sanitary waste.

Do I need to clean the bin?

Nappies are sealed away in film, so the bin stays pretty clean. But you can always wash with soapy water, or use bicarbonate of soda in the unlikely event it gets smelly. Simply sprinkle it liberally into the bin, leave overnight, then rinse with water.

What about recycling?

The empty cartridges are 100% recycle-able.  Simply pop them into your normal plastic recycling bin and wave them off to their new life as pens, or bottles, or carrier bags. Or maybe new cartridges, which are made of 98% recycled plastic themselves. Nappies aren’t recycle-able, unfortunately, so you can’t put the wrapped nappies in your recycling bin.

‘Great invention when you don’t want to go to the outside bin after every nappy change. All you need to do is push the nappy in and spin the toggle which wraps each nappy like a string of sausages.’
