Place the clear diaphragm in the top of the body and push down gently to get a good seal.
Place the clear diaphragm cap over the diaphragm and push down gently to seal.
Place the peach lid over the top of the body and turn it clockwise until it clicks closed.
Push the horn onto the body until it’s fully engaged and secure. Turn your pump handset upside down.
Insert the peach duck-bill valve. Gently squeeze the sides of the valve to make sure it’s open.
Screw in a Tommee Tippee® Natural Start® bottle. This breast pump is designed to fit all Tommee Tippee® Natural Start® and Advanced Anti-Colic bottles(excludes Tommee Tippee® Natural Start® glass bottles).
Place the assembled pump on a flat surface. Connect one end of each air tube to the peach lid of each pump body and the other to the power unit. The air tubegoes into the hole of the power unit.
Measure your nipples using the nipple measurement guide and select the correct horn insert for you.
Push the horn insert into the tunnel of the horn until it locks in securely.
A nipple measurement guide is included with every SingleElectric Breast Pumpto help you find the perfect fit, from first use.

Gently roll your nipple so it’s at a full size and repeat on the other side.
Measure the diameter of each nipple in millimetres using the nipple measurement guide provided.
Make sure you measure both nipples because no two nipples are the same.
Once you have measured both nipples, choose the horn insert that is closest to your nipple size, and then consider experimenting with the size above and the size below.
Keep your nipple measurement guide in a safe, convenient spot, so you can easily reach for it as your nipple size changes over time.
You will have found your ‘sweet spot’ when you experience the greatest comfort and a consistent milk flow.
If your nipple rubs or feels pinched against the sides of the insert, this may indicate your horn size is too small. We recommend going up a size with the inserts included for a more comfortable fit.
If expressing feels uncomfortable or sore, you may need a smaller insert.
We recommend measuring your nipples regularly and adjusting the inserts as needed to help you maintain a comfortable fit, and efficient milk expression.
The Tommee Tippee®Single Electric Breast Pumphas two modes with adjustable suction levelsto suit your preferred rhythm and pace.

Spend some time experimenting with different modes and suction combinationsto find patterns that work best for you.
Keep in mind that each session may look a little different. Rather than looking for a one-size-fits-all approach, we recommend looking for settings that accommodate how you may feel each day. Some sessions may focus on output whereas othershelp to give you some relief.

The best time to use your breast pump is after the first feed of the day (unless your breastfeeding advisor has told you otherwise).
Make sure your hands are washed and dried before touching your breast pump, and that your breast pump parts are washed and sterilised.
Get yourself in a comfortable position, sitting, standing or half-lying.
You may choose to wear a pumping bra (available separately) to help keep your hands free.
The important thing is to keep the pump handset vertical while you hold it against your breast. You’ll also need a flat surface nearby to put the pump and bottle on when you’re done.

Hold a pump handset around the narrow neck of the body. Hold it in whichever hand feels most comfortable. As you use it, you may find it’s more comfortable to cup your hand around the bottle. Do not hold it by the air tube.
Place the horn over your breast so that it creates a seal all the way around with your nipple at the centre of the hole, you don’t need to cover the whole of your areola or breast with the horn, so don’t force it. It should sit comfortably. If it doesn’t feel right, relax and reposition.
Once you’re ready, press and hold the power button or a couple of seconds. The pump will start with a gentle massage rhythm that mimics the way your baby latches on to your nipple to stimulate milk production. It will give you 10 short pulses and one longer pump.

After about a minute, the pump will automatically move to a more powerful massage setting. The – and + suction buttons let you adjust the suction level any time throughout your session, depending on the strength that feels comfortable for you.
Once you feel or see milk, you can switch to Express mode. This gives you a more regular and prolonged pumping action to help you express milk. Press the mode selection button once to switch to Express mode.
To move to a more powerful and longer expression setting, touch the + button. To move to a less powerful and shorter express setting, touch the – button. The power will automatically shut off after 30 minutes of Express mode.
If you want to pause at any point, briefly touch the power button. This will pause the timer as well. Briefly touch again to resume pumping.
A good breast-pumping session can last anywhere between 15 and 45 minutes, but you’ll find that each session will vary. Try not to watch the clock and instead focus on how your breasts feel.
Signs your pumping session is coming to a natural end include a reduction in breast milk flow, and a comfortable, well-drained feeling in your breasts.

When your milk is no longer flowing freely, touch and hold the power button for 3 seconds to turn off your pump.
Disconnect the air tube from the lid and gently unscrew your bottles from the pump.
Detach the Tommee Tippee® baby bottle to prepare for storage or secure a sterilised teat and feed straight away. For more information on breast milk storage, please see the section below.
Disassemble all the parts and prepare to clean and sterilise, ready for your next expressing session.
Recharge your power unit using the USB charger and power adapter provided so your pump is ready to use again.
With direct pump-to-bottle convenience your pumpconnects to Tommee Tippee® baby bottles (excluding Natural Start® glass bottles) for easy, spill-free milk transfer and storage.
At the end of your session, simply screw on the milk storage lidprovided, or screw on a sterilised teat and feed straight away.
For longer-term storage, pre-sterilised breast milk storage bags also come in handy. They can be double-fastened and stored safely in the fridge or freezer.
NHS guidelines recommend labelling stored breast milk with the date so it can be used within the advised timeframe, helping to avoid waste. The following can support as abreast milk storage guide:
Method of storing breast milk | Use within | REMEMBER |
Room temperature < 25°C | 6 hours | • Never defrost or heat breast milk in a microwave. • Never refreeze breast milk. • Breast milk stored in the fridge but intended for freezing should be frozen within 24 hours. • Once defrosted, breast milk should be kept in the fridge and used within 12 hours. • Do not boil breast milk. • Throw away any leftover breast milk after feeding. |
Refrigerated at 5-10 °C | 3 days
Refrigerated at 0-4 °C | 6 days
Frozen | 6 months |
When you want to freeze expressed breast milk, leave some space at the top of the bottle or storage bag for it to expand. It’s easiest to freeze breast milk in individual feed quantities of 2-4oz or 60-125ml.
Thaw frozen breast milk in the fridge or by standing your bottle or storage bag in lukewarm water until it has reached body temperature. Or use a Tommee Tippee® bottle warmer.
Your breast milk may separate out into layers when you store it. Give it a shake to mix it thoroughly before feeding your baby.
If you want to take expressed milk out and about with you, make sure it stays cold or frozen until you need to feed your baby.
Before first use and every new session, separate each part of the pump handset and wash the components that come into contact with breast milk.
Use clean soapy water and avoid water that you’ve used to clean other products.
The following components can be hand-washed and sterilised by microwave or electric steam sterilisation, cold water solution or boiling water:
Horn
Horn insert
Duck-shaped body
Diaphragm
Diaphragm cap
Lid (peach)
Do not wash or sterilise the power unit, USB cable, power adapter or air tube. If sterilised, bacteria can build up in the air tube and damage the power unit. If you wish to clean these parts, wipe the outside with a clean damp cloth or sterilising wipe.
How do you measure for a breast pump?
The right fit for you is based on how your nipple fits into the tunnel of the horn or insert.
Your Single Electric Breast Pump will come with an easy nipple measurement guide to help you find your perfect fit:
Measure the diameter of each nipple in millimetres using the nipple measurement guide provided – hold the different cut-out spaces against your nipple to see which size best aligns with you.
Make sure you measure both nipples, because no two are the same.
Once you have measured both nipples choose the horn insert that is closest to your nipple size and then consider experimenting with the size above and the size below.
Remember, every session is different, and your nipples may change size over time. We recommend regularly measuring your nipples and adjust the insert size accordingly.
How do you know if your breast pump fits?
Although it can be a little tricky to get used to at first, expressing and pumping breast milk shouldn't hurt, feel uncomfortable or cause breast tenderness. You will have found the right fit when you experience the greatest comfort and a consistent milk flow.
Your whole nipple should fit comfortably without much, if any, of the areola entering the tunnel of your chosen horn or insert before you start pumping.
Your nipple should be centred in the middle and move freely within the tunnel while you pump, without causing rubbing, redness or pain.
After each session, your pump should express most of your milk and your breasts should feel noticeably softer.
Nipple measurement tips to look out for include:
Size is too small: All your nipple rubs against the tunnel and none of your areola gets pulled in.
Size is too big: More of your areola is sucked into the horn and may rub against the edge of the tunnel.
Size is just right: While you pump, only a small amount of your areola is pulled into the tunnel, not too much or none.
What is a hospital-grade performance breast pump?
Hospital-grade performance breast pumps are strong, safe and reliable, especially if you need to pump multiple times a day.
Your Tommee Tippee® Single Electric Breast Pump is hospital-grade and has:
A hygienic closed system: The diaphragm and cap work as a protective barrier to prevent breast milk from entering the pump mechanism, maintaining cleanliness and safety.
Strong, customisable performance: The suction is strong and adjustable, with the ability to interchange between different modes and levels offering variable speeds to better mimic a baby’s natural feeding rhythm.
Design that’s built to last: The power unit is very durable and can run for long periods without losing power. This makes it suitable for consistent, frequent use and an ideal option if you’re planning to exclusively pump.
What are the benefits of the soft silicone massaging petals?
The soft silicone petals are located around the inside of the breast pump horn – if you run your finger around the inside of the horn, you’ll feel the subtle flex of the silicone petals and get an idea of how they can help to massage your breast as you pump.
These petals create intermittent compression on the breast tissue and areola, similar to how a baby’s mouth and tongue rhythmically press during feeding. The stimulation can help trigger the let-down reflex (oxytocin release) which supports milk flow.
The silicone material can also help to create a stronger, but gentle seal around your breast, reducing pressure on your breast and promote efficient breast milk flow.
How do I fit an electric breast pump comfortably into my bra?
After having a baby, your breasts change in both shape and size. It’s a good idea to get your bra size re-measured so you can find comfortable nursing bras that offer good support. A nursing bra with easy access to your nipples can help to keep your electric breast pump in place, meaning you don’t need to hold your pump by hand for the full session.
What to expect the first time you pump?
When you pump for the first time, think of it as simply getting to know your body in a new way. You’re already navigating so many changes, so give yourself space to ease into this part of the journey too.
In the early days, try spacing your sessions at different times of the day to see when your milk flows most comfortably. It can be helpful to keep a record of times and volumes in the first few weeks, so you can spot what feels most natural for you.
Remember to be kind to yourself – not every session has to focus on volume, it’s also about catching those moments of relief.
What does good pumping feel like?
A good pumping session starts with a personable fit, supported by the interchangeable inserts to customise the horn size, and varied modes and suction levels to create different patterns. Personalised settings help to keep sessions comfortable to encourage efficient milk flow. This means you don’t need to prolong pumping longer than needed, giving both your nipples a break and time back to yourself.
Can I use a breast pump if my breasts are engorged?
Yes, pumping can relieve some pressure from breast milk engorgement if your breasts are uncomfortable and too full for your baby to latch. It’s best to express only enough milk to soften the breast, as fully pumping can increase milk supply and make engorgement worse.
Holding a warm flannel or hot water bottle (avoiding boiling water) can also help to soothe. Hand expression with a manual pump or silicone let down offers another gentle option.
What if I need a larger horn size?
28mm horns are available to order from the Tommee Tippee® website via mobile, or via the Tommee Tippee® app.
What can I do if I’m not getting enough milk?
Your breast milk supply may fluctuate over time, but if you notice you’re getting less than what's normal for you, try checking…
The alignment of your nipple: The centre of your nipple should be positioned in the centre of the horn, without much, if any, of your areola entering the tunnel.
Your horn size: The horn should feel comfortable and shouldn't draw in too much of your breast tissue. We recommend measuring the diameter of your nipple, and if the included 24mm horn doesn’t fit comfortably, you can interchange between the 13mm, 15mm, 17mm and 21mm inserts. For more space, you might want to try the 28mm horn, available online via the Tommee Tippee® website via mobile or the app.
The seal: Your pump should feel very secure once the pumping program starts.
The fit in your bra: The right fit should feel snug, but not uncomfortable. If your pump sits too high and feel restrictive, we recommend looping the bra strap adjusters to your nursing bra to relieve any tightness and help the pump sit more comfortably.
The settings: Everyone is different, so finding the setting that's comfortable and effective for you will help maintain a steady breast milk supply. It’s important to remember that your ideal fit and suction level may change from session to session – this is totally normal and nothing to worry about. We recommend measuring regularly and customising the settings, to suit how you feel.

When should I start using my breast pump?
The best time to start expressing is different for everyone and can depend on how you choose to feed your baby. It can help to think of expressing breast milk as a supply and demand process – the more you pump the more breast milk your body will produce.
Healthcare professionals recommend allowing at least 6 weeks to settle into a regular breastfeeding routine to help establish a good latch and regulate breast milk production.
How often should I pump, and for how long?
Guidelines suggest that little and often can be a good rule of thumb, and to recognise that it’s completely normal for your schedule and session length to be different to another parent’s.
How often and how long you pump may be guided on your feeding pattern...
Primarily breastfeeding and pumping to build supply: You may express for 15-20 minutes, 30-60 minutes after breastfeeding your baby.
Exclusively breast pumping: Pump at the same rate that your baby would usually breastfeed, typically around 8-10 times in 24 hours.
Pumping at work: Align with your baby’s usual feeds, typically every 3-4 hours, or at a schedule that works for you both.
While the timings above serve as a guideline, listening to your body and your baby will help to shape a routine that works best for you.
Keep in mind that longer, stronger sessions won’t necessarily lead to higher milk output and can lead to soreness and engorgement from overstimulation. For reassurance, the Single Electric Breast Pump shuts down after 30 minutes of active use.
How many hours should I breast pump?
A breast pumping session can last between 15 and 45 minutes, but every session can vary – it’s okay if some sessions don’t turn out how you expected them to. Measuring each session on how your breasts feel instead of the length of time you’ve pumped can be a good way to feel positive about your experience.
Signs that you’re coming to the natural end of a session are softer, lighter breasts and a slow-down in breast milk flow.
Is my breast pump travel friendly?
Yes, this portable breast pump is lightweight and rechargeable. The closed system helps to keep the inside of your pump clean on-the-go, and the power unit is sleek and compact to fit neatly in your bag. Remember to take milk storage lids out with you so you can keep your expressed milk safe.
There is no or very little suction. What can I do?
It’s most likely that there’s some air getting in somewhere, which means your pump won’t work properly.
Check that the air tube is connected securely at both ends and there are no kinks.
Make sure that the horn forms a comfortable seal around your breast. Adjust your position if you need to.
Check the duck-bill valve is clean and opens easily. Give it a gentle squeeze if it’s stuck.
Check the diaphragm and diaphragm cap are secure and there are no signs of damage.
Will breast milk get sucked into the power unit?
No, the Tommee Tippee® Single Electric Breast Pump has a closed system.
If you have fitted the diaphragm and cap properly, each air tube and pump are separated from your milk and can’t come into contact with the power unit. It’s what’s known as an anti-backflow pump.
Why do I have to use a Tommee Tippee® bottle?
The Tommee Tippee® Single Electric Breast Pump is designed to be a perfect fit for Tommee Tippee® bottles and pouches (excludes Tommee Tippee® glass bottles). You may get leaks and spills if you use other brands of bottles and containers that don’t fit correctly.
