How to bottle feed on the go
First of all, why does no one tell you about the complexities of bottle feeding when you’re out and about before you actually have to do it? Do they just want you to be ill-prepared? While breastfeeding, you already have all your equipment (so to speak) ready to go, but when it comes to bottle feeding, it’s not as simple. Luckily, we have made it our mission to give you the insight into all things bottle feeding when you’re on the go.
Not to worry, though! It doesn’t have to be all that complicated if you know what you’re doing, and you have the right gadgets to help you on your way.
Preparing ingredients and equipment for bottle feeding out and about
If you are filling your bottles with breast milk instead of formula, all you need to do is pump and keep the clean bottle chilled in a cool bag. You can then heat the breast milk however you prefer, and you’re good to go. We always recommend our Travel Bottle Warmer for when you’re on the go—it keeps water warm and doesn’t require an external warming source. Easy peasy!
You’ll probably find that there are a few more steps to prepping a perfect bottle for your baby if you’re prepping formula rather than breast milk. Don’t worry, it’s still super easy once you get your head around it. For preparing infant formula, you will need:
- A carefully measured amount of formula in a clean and dry container
- A vacuum flask of hot, just-boiled water
- A sterilized feeding bottle
Simply mix the ingredients and wait for it to feel warm, not hot (consider the milk on the wrist trick). Then you’re all good!
