Swaddles

Better sleep for baby (and you).

Swaddling is wrapping a baby up so their arm movements are gently restricted while they sleep. It relaxes, calms, and helps to soothe their startle reflex. Made to settle from birth and beyond, Tommee Tippee swaddle bags are designed to mimic the closeness of the womb. These soft cotton jersey sleep suits can be worn with baby’s arms in or out, and they have easy bottom-to-top zips to help you tackle night-time nappy changes.

Product FAQ's

Swaddling is gently wrapping up a baby in a lightweight blanket or swaddle to help them feel snug and secure, similar to how they felt when they were in the womb.

You should stop swaddling your baby when they show the first signs of being able to roll over on their own.

Yes, swaddling is safe for babies,
as long as you follow safe sleep guidance.

• Make sure that the swaddling finishes at shoulder height. When swaddling, you
should only wrap the baby’s body and not their neck or head.

• Never place your baby on their tummy to sleep – especially when they are
swaddled.

• Use hip-healthy swaddling techniques that let your baby’s hips and knees move
freely to reduce the risk of hip dysplasia. Your baby’s legs should be able to
fall into a natural position (like frog legs).

• Check your baby’s temperature regularly to make sure they don’t get too
hot.

  1. Lay down a lightweight blanket flat with one corner folded down
  2. Place your baby on the cloth on their back in the centre
  3. Wrap the left side of the cloth snug around your baby’s arm and torso, but ensure it isn’t too tight.
  4. Fold the bottom up over your baby’s feet, tucking the fabric under their chin, before securing the other side by wrapping it around your baby’s arms and torso.
  5. Finally tuck the excess fabric under their back.
