Between sterilising bottles, boiling the kettle, counting scoops, mixing formula, and cleaning up, it's easy to get bogged down in the routine of formula feeding. That's why we've put together some helpful formula feeding hacks to make it a little simpler. From time-saving tips to easy at-home organisation ideas, we've got you covered.

The World Health Organisation recommends exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of a baby's life. However, sometimes parents are unable to breastfeed, or have made an informed decision not to breastfeed, and formula feeding is a necessary and viable option for many.

Remember, every parent's feeding journey is unique, and there’s no one-size-fits-all option, so find what works best for you and your baby. If you are formula feeding exclusively or combination feeding, and wondering “how can I make bottle feeding easier?”, we're here to help!

How can I make bottle feeding easier?

Let’s run through some essential tools and tips to support you on your feeding journey.

Baby bottle sterilisers

Sterilising is an important step in any bottle feeding routine. It helps ensure that bacteria and germs are eliminated from bottles, teats, and other feeding equipment, and protects your baby’s developing immune system.

Tommee Tippee sterilisers make bottle feeds safe for them, and simple for you. They use UV light or steam to kill viruses* and 99.9% of harmful bacteria, meaning there's no need for harsh chemicals.

*Tested against Coronavirus (tested to EN 16777) and Influenza H1N1.

Self-sterilising baby bottles

Tommee Tippee Natural Start® and Advanced Anti-Colic™ baby bottles are the quickest and easiest self-sterilising bottles on the market*. With fewer parts and simpler assembly when compared to the leading competitor*, they keep feeds simple and mean less stress and mess.

Bottle prep machines

Tommee Tippee Perfect Prep® machines make a fresh formula feed at the right temperature in just 90 seconds*. That’s up to 10x faster than a kettle**, so you can feed your hungry baby, fast (day or night). These time and effort-saving innovations come with an antibacterial filter that’s as effective as boiling water, and have a patented hot shot that kills bacteria in formula**.

We call them perfect for a reason. No boiling. No cooling. Less waiting. And less to clean up!

*Based on a 5oz feed, room temperature water tank, refers to time from start of hot shot to completion of cool shot.

Baby bottle warmers

You can use an electric bottle warmer to heat up ready-made formula gently. There are warmers made for use at home or out and about, and some (like our Multiwarm) can even warm baby food when they move on from milk and start weaning.

Milk vacuum

Mixing a formula feed for a baby can create air bubbles. Colicsoothe™ uses vacuum technology to remove dissolved air from baby’s milk, without the need for drops (or anything extra).

Airtight formula powder containers

Lots of parents use specially designed containers to hold their formula powder. There are many different designs out there that can be used to hygienically store formula at home and keep mess and spills to a minimum. Not to mention, one of these containers will look a little more aesthetically pleasing on your kitchen bench!

Formula milk powder dispensers

Our formula dispensing pots are specially designed to fit into the neck of our breast-like Natural Start® baby bottles.

The handy, hygienic way to store formula powder, they can be used to transport and dispense baby formula powder, and one pot holds 8 scoops (8oz) of formula powder, meaning you can mix on demand and save unnecessary waste. Just measure the right amount in advance, then make a feed when needed.

How to make nighttime bottle feeding easier

Ah, the groggy middle-of-the-night feed. It can feel like a daunting task, especially when you're half-asleep. But try not to worry! Here are some tips to make nighttime bottle feeding easier.

  • Use a gentle nightlight for a calm atmosphere: This will mean there’s no need to turn on the big light at 3 am and will help your baby stay settled. It may also mean that they (hopefully) fall straight back to sleep after their feed!
  • Keep things in reach for easy nighttime access: Setting up a small, organised feeding station in the room where you feed your baby during the night will mean you don’t have to venture to the kitchen every time you need to prep a feed.

The tips and time-saving solutions we’ve covered prove that formula feeding doesn't have to be overly complicated. By implementing these simple bottle feeding hacks, you can streamline your feed time routine and make it simpler (and more enjoyable) for both you and your baby.
