  • How does the UV Sterilisation & Charging Pod work?

The Tommee Tippee NightGlow Pod uses UV-C light to kill up to 99.9% of germs and bacteria on soothers, bottle teats and other small baby accessories in just 2 minutes. It also uses UV-A light to charge glow in the dark dummies, so they glow gently through the night.

  • How many soothers can I sterilise at once?

The pod can hold 2 soothers, but for best results and to ensure a 99.9% bacteria kill rate, only 1 should be sterilised at a time.

  • Is UV sterilisation safe for my baby?

Yes. UV-C sterilisation is a safe, chemical-free, and heat-free method widely used in healthcare settings. It leaves no harmful residues.

  • How long does the sterilisation process take?

A single sterilisation/charging cycle takes just 2 minutes.

  • Can I sterilise items other than soothers?

Yes. The pod can sterilise small baby items like bottle teats and teething toys (excluding water-filled or soft toys), as well as small personal items like keys.

  • Do I need to use water or cleaning solutions?

No. The sterilisation process works without water, steam, or chemicals. Just place the item inside and start the cycle.

  • How is the NightGlow Pod powered?

To power: Plug the pod into a household power outlet using the included USB-C cable or use x3 AA lithium batteries* for wire-free use on-the-go.

    • Please note, the USB cable does not recharge the batteries or the pod for on-the-go use.

*Not suitable for rechargeable batteries. Batteries not included.

  • Is the UV light harmful?

Direct exposure to UV-C light can be harmful, but the NightGlow Pod is designed with safety features such as automatic shut off when the lid is opened to ensure it's safe to use.

  • How often should I use the NightGlow Pod?

You can use the pod as often as needed, especially when soothers or accessories have been dropped or exposed to germs.

  • Do I need to clean the pod?

Yes. Wipe the inside of the pod occasionally with a dry, soft cloth to remove dust or debris. Do not use water or cleaning chemicals.

  • Can I travel with the NightGlow Pod?

Absolutely! It's compact and ideal for on-the-go sterilisation and charging.

  • How do I know the NightGlow Pod is working?

An indicator light turns on during the sterilisation/charging cycle and turns off when complete. Refer to the user manual for specific light indicators.
  • Does UV sterilisation remove dirt or milk residue?

No. Always wash and dry soothers or items before placing them in the pod to be sterilised or charged.

  • How long do the UV LEDs last?

The UV-C and UV-A LEDs are built to last thousands of hours. If the pod stops working, check the batteries first.

  • Can I sterilise wet items?

No. Items should be dry before being placed in the pod, as moisture may reduce sterilisation effectiveness.

  • Should I wash soothers before using the pod?

Yes. Always wash and dry soothers before sterilising/charging for the best results.

  • Can the pod charge NightGlow soothers?

Yes. The pod is designed to charge any NightGlow soother, making them glow in the dark for simpler nighttime soothing.

  • How long does it take to charge a soother?

NightGlow soothers charge in just 2 minutes, and then glow throughout the night.

  • Can I sterilise and charge a soother at the same time?

Yes. The pod allows simultaneous sterilisation and charging, so your NightGlow soother is always clean and ready to glow.

  • Can I sterilise all types of soothers?

Yes. The pod is suitable for sterilising all types of soothers, including those made from latex.

  • Can I charge all types of soothers?

Only NightGlow soothers can be charged, as they are designed to glow in the dark.

  • What does it mean when the light starts flashing?

A flashing light indicates the battery is low and should be replaced.

  • Is the device rechargeable or can I use rechargeable AA batteries?

No, the pod is not rechargeable. It must be powered using the provided USB-C cable plugged into the main power supply/socketor with x3 AA batteries (lithium recommended). Rechargeable AA batteries are not supported.

  • I charged my glow-in-the-dark soother with a UVA light, why doesn't the bright glow last for as long as I expected?

The soother may still be glowing, but visibility depends on the surrounding light conditions. To get the best glow, make sure the room is completely dark and give your eyes a few minutes to adjust. Even a small amount of ambient light can make the glow appear to fade quickly. Letting your eyes adapt in a dark room will help you see the glow more clearly and for longer.

The length of glow time also depends on the type of glow in the dark soother being charged. Tommee Tippee NightGlow soothers should glow for up to 9 hours after a 2-minute charge, but the glow time of dummies from other brands may vary.
