Product FAQ's

This is personal preference. Going to be using your breast pump a lot? Then an electric one may work best for you. They’re fast and can help to save your wrists and hands from aches and pains that can be caused by prolonged manual pumping.

Only going to be expressing occasionally? Then a manual, hand-held pump may be the best choice for you. They can be quieter, easier to use on the go, and mean that you're totally in control of the pace at which you pump. This can be appealing to some parents who may find electric pumps a little daunting when they're just getting started.  

A double electric breast pump extracts milk from both breasts at once, which can reduce pumping time and help boost supply.  

A single electric breast pump works one side at a time, making it a smaller option for travelling or lighter routines.  

This will depend on your personal goals and situation. However, if you’re exclusively breastfeeding, you are encouraged to wait until your baby is around 6 weeks old before you start pumping to ensure your milk supply has regulated properly.   

If you are needing to pump as you’re returning to work or going to be away from your baby, you should start pumping 1-2 weeks before this time so you can get used to the pump and start to build up a stash of milk in the freezer. Follow these steps when cleaning your breast pump: 

  1. If your breast pump is electric, make sure to always remove the power unit before washing. 
  2. Separate all silicone shields, valves and bottles. 
  3. Wash in warm, soapy water and rinse with clean water. 
  4. Sanitise in a steriliser and air dry completely on a fresh towel.
