    1. Download the Tommee Tippee® app.
    2. Open the app on your smartphone or tablet, then follow the instructions to add the device.

Before using your Perfect Prep® for the first time, you need to run a cleaning cycle:

    1. This can take up to 10 minutes to complete. Do not fit your filter until instructed to do so and do not remove the water jug while water is being dispensed.
    2. Place an empty container under the water outlet, with at least 1 litre capacity.
    3. Add boiling water straight from the kettle into the water jug (D). The temperature warning light (L) will illuminate during the cleaning process.
    4. Press and hold the cleaning cycle button (H) for 2 seconds to start. If you need to pause, press the button again.
    5. Wait for hot water to run through the system.
    6. Pour away the hot water.
    7. Prime your filter by submerging it upright in a bowl of cold tap water. Tap the base of the filter to remove any air bubbles for 5 minutes.
    8. Insert the new filter into the filter hopper and then insert filter hopper (C) into water jug.
    9. Fill filter hopper (C) to the maximum level.

  • How to use

    Priming your filter:

Before use, make sure that any air bubbles or loose particles are removed from the filter by submerging it in water for at least 5 minutes. This is necessary to enable water to pass through the filter once it is installed in the machine.

Only ever touch the top of the filter when handling.

    1. Remove the filter from its packaging and remove the sticker from the top of the filter.

    2. Submerge the filter in a bowl filled with cold tap water.

    3. Shake and tap the base of the filter to remove any air bubbles (whilst submerged for 5 minutes).

    4. Your filter is now ready to fit into the filter hopper (C). Push downwards until it is positioned firmly.

Making a feed with your Perfect Prep® machine

Ensure your hands and all surfaces that come into contact with the Perfect Prep® and its components (including filter) are clean and dry.

    1. Check the water jug has enough water.

    2. Pour the formula powder into your bottle, following the manufacturer’s instructions.

    3. Place your bottle as close to the water outlet as possible using the bottle stand and drip tray to create a surface at the correct height. The drip tray and stand can be used in three formations to make low, medium and high surfaces.

Low medium and High drip stands

    4. Put a bottle with formula powder under the outlet.

    5. Select your feed size (ml) from the dial and press Power button (N).

    6. A hot shot of water will be dispensed. While the hot shot is dispensing the Power button (N) will be flashing.

    7. Wait for the Power button (N) to pulse before removing the bottle. Add milk lid securely to the bottle and swirl until the formula has dissolved.

FOR SAFETY, ADD THE COLD WATER WITHIN 2 MINUTES AFTER ADDING THE HOT SHOT. IF YOU TAKE LONGER THAN 2 MINUTES OR IF YOU STOP THE CYCLE, THE POWER BUTTON WILL ILLUMINATE WHITE. DISCARD THE FEED AND REPEAT THE BOTTLE PREPARATION PROCESS FROM STEP 1.

    8. Remove the lid and place your bottle back on the stand. Press the Power button (N) again to dispense the remaining water.

    9. The Power button (N) will flash to let you know the machine is preparing to dispense. Expect a slight delay before water is dispensed.

    10. The bottle is ready when the power button turns green. Add the sterilised teat, screw ring and hood and swirl.

FOR YOUR CHILD’S SAFETY ALWAYS CHECK FOOD TEMPERATURE BEFORE FEEDING BY TESTING ON A SENSITIVE PART OF YOUR SKIN.

Your bottle is now ready to serve!

If you need to stop dispensing hot or cold water, press the Power button (N) for 2 seconds. Discard your feed and start the bottle preparation again from step 1.

The unit is ready to be used again when the Power button (N) illuminates white.

As with any other method of making up a feed for a baby, it’s essential that good hygiene practices are observed when using and maintaining your Perfect Prep® machine.

  • How often should I clean my machine?

You should run a clean cycle on your Perfect Prep® machine:

    • Before its first use and then every 30 days.
    • If your machine hasn’t been used for 1 week or more.
    • When replacing your filter.
    • After a de-scaling cycle.
  • How to clean

You must run a cleaning cycle before first use or when indicated by the cleaning icon. This can take up to 10 minutes to complete.

Always remove your filter before running a cleaning cycle.

DO NOT REMOVE THE WATER JUG WHILE WATER IS BEING DISPENSED.

    • How do I reset the Bluetooth connection on my Perfect Prep® machine?

To reset your Perfect Prep® machine’s Bluetooth connection, just press and hold the Bluetooth button for 2 seconds and then follow the instructions in the app to pair.

    • Where is the best place to keep my Perfect Prep® machine?

Your Perfect Prep® machine should be kept in a cool, dry place that’s out of direct sunlight and away from warm appliances. This will help the water tank stay cool.

    • Do I need to boil the water before I pour it into the water hopper?

No, we recommend filling the hopper with fresh, cool tap water. If you use boiling water your machine won't dispense because the final feed would be too hot for your baby.It should only be done when doing the clean cycle.

    • What does the hot shot do?

Perfect Prep® machines have a patented hot shot to kill any bacteria that might be in the formula powder.

    • How often do I need to change the filter?

On average, one Tommee Tippee Perfect Prep® filter lasts around 3 months, depending on how much you use your machine and the size of the bottles you prepare.

If you use your Perfect Prep® water jug for daily consumption in your household (outside of the machine) you should fit a new Tommee Tippee filter every 4 weeks to ensure optimum performance.

The filter replacement icon on your machine will turn orange to tell you when your current filter is coming to the end of its effectiveness. When this icon starts flashing, you must fit a new filter to continue using your machine.

    • Why do I have to use a Tommee Tippee filter?

The water in a Perfect Prep® machine passes through a filter that removes bacteria and other impurities using an ultra-filtration membrane. This specially designed membrane has openings that are smaller than bacteria and therefore forms a physical barrier that stops any bacteria passing into the machine, or the prepared bottle feed.

Tommee Tippee Perfect Prep® filters are as effective as boiling the kettle when it comes to removing bacteria, and this has been tested and verified by an independent laboratory.

We know some people buy standard water jug filters or filters claiming to contain an anti-bacterial membrane, rather than Tommee Tippee filters, to use in their Perfect Prep® machines. Standard water jug filters generally do not contain an anti-bacterial filtration membrane, so are not safe to use in a Perfect Prep® machine.

    • Why do I need to submerge the filter before first use?

Prior to fitting your new filter, it needs to be primed properly and the steps for this are as follows:

      1. Submerge the filter in cold water for 5 minutes.
      2. Firmly tap the side of the filter.

Submerging primes the filter before use. The process removes air bubbles so water can flow freely through the filter.

    • How long can I leave unused water in the tank?

We recommend using the water in your Perfect Prep® jug within 1 or 2 days, any longer, and you should refill the jug with fresh tap water.

    • Why is the flow of water from my Perfect Prep® machine not as smooth as usual Why is the flow of water from my Perfect Prep® machine not as smooth as usual?

If quality of the water flow dispense becomes poor, you should run a descale cycle.

    • Why is the amount of feed over or under the level of feed I was expecting?

As is normal with all manufactured products, the Perfect Prep® Machine dispensed water volume has an allowed tolerance of +/- 5%. Additionally, there are potential tolerances in the measurement graduations of our Closer to Nature, Natural Start® and Advanced Anti-Colic baby bottles.

This means that any volume below 100 ml may vary by +/- 5 ml, and any volume above 100 ml may vary by +/- 5%.

It’s therefore possible for the combination of both tolerances, machine, and bottle, to make the volume dispensed by the machine appear inaccurate.

Our Closer to Nature, Natural Start® and Advanced Anti-Colic baby bottles all meet or surpass the requirements for volume tolerances as specified by European Standard EN 14350.

Although we do not manufacture formula powder, we have looked at what the leading brands recommend and most assume that a 9lb+ baby will be on 120ml feeds. It is difficult to recommend a "suitable from" age because every newborn’s weight is different. Some babies are onto 120ml feeds within a couple of weeks, whereas others may take longer.

    • Why can’t I make a feed smaller than a 120ml bottle?

Perfect Prep® machines can't prepare a bottle under 120ml because the volume of the final formula feed needs to be large enough to split into two important parts:

      1. An initial hot shot big enough to dilute the formula and kill bacteria effectively.
      2. A second dispense big enough to cool the hot shot down to body temperature.

If Perfect Prep® were to make a feed smaller than 120ml , the quantity of both the initial hot shot and the second water dispense would not be large enough.

    • My unit keeps getting too hot and stops working

Perfect Prep® machines have a probe that measures the temperature of the water in the tank and stops the unit dispensing water is above 28°C. This is a key safety feature that makes sure the final feed is not too hot for your baby.

High water temperature should only ever be an issue in hotter climates, but it'snot uncommon for mains water to rise in temperature in cooler climates during a sustained period of hot weather.

We therefore recommend that you run the cold tap for 10 seconds before filling your Perfect Prep® jug.

To stop your unit getting too hot...

Keep it out of direct sunlight.

Regularly top it up with cold tap water.

Keep a jug of cool water in the fridge and use this to top up your machine.

Add some ice cubes to the hopper.

    • My temperature warning light keeps coming on and I don’t know why. What can I do to turn this off?

We'd only ever expect this warning light to come on during a cleaning cycle when you flush your machine with boiled water.
If the temperature warning light turns on while making a feed, empty the water jug and refill it with cool tap water. Once you have refreshed the water, the temperature light should go out.

    • Sometimes when I change the water filter there are black particles on the cartridge. What are they?

When opening the filter packaging you may find that there is a small amount of black carbon residue in the bag or on the surface of the cartridge; this is normal and it’s nothing to be concerned about.

These food grade certified carbon particles are harmless. They can’t pass through the filter and will be reduced during the initial set up process when submerging in clean fresh water.

    • My unit has no power

First, try using a few different plug sockets to check if the plug socket itself is not working as expected.

If your machine still has no power, we recommend that you return it (with the receipt) to the retailer you bought it from. They should be able to offer an exchange.

If you don’t have your receipt, please get in touch with our customer services team, and have the following information ready to share:

      • The batch code of your machine unit (labelled on the base).
      • The date of purchase.
      • The retailer purchased from.
    • Is it safe to make a bottle with Perfect Prep®?

Yes. Perfect Prep® machines pass all appropriate standards for electrical baby products and are designed to make the lives of parents simpler.

To ensure safety, Perfect Prep® machines make a fresh formula feed using a unique, patented three-stage process.

Step 1: The water used to make the feed passes through a filter that removes bacteria and other impurities. Bacteria are removed using an ultra-filtration membrane which has openings that are smaller than bacteria and therefore form a physical barrier that stops any bacteria in the tap water from passing into the machine. Tommee Tippee Perfect Prep® filters areas effective as boiling the kettle when it comes to removing bacteria, as tested and verified by an independent laboratory.

Step 2: Once the water is safely purified, a baby bottle containing formula powder is placed on the machine, and ‘hot shot’ of water is dispensed into it so it can kill any bacteria in the formula powder.

Step 3: The Perfect Prep® machine then completes the bottle feed by dispensing a measured quantity of cool water. The machine is perfectly calibrated to ensure that the total volume of the feed is perfect, and that the combination of the patented hot shot and the second dispense results in a body temperature bottle feed.

    • Why is my phone not connecting to my Perfect Prep® machine through Bluetooth?

Your machine may be too close to other electricals (like a microwave), which can interfere with the coverage. Try moving it away from these devices.

Your phone could be in in battery-saving mode. Make sure it's fully charged and not trying to conserve power.

Your phone's location services could be turned off. You'll need to switch these on for everything to work properly.

Finally, check the TT App Bluetooth (BLE) permissions are enabled in your settings.

    • Why is my Perfect Prep® machine not dispensing?

If the water level icon is orange, you need to fill the water jug with more water before you can make a feed.

If the filter replacement icon is flashing orange, you won't be able to use your machine until you've fitted a fresh filter.

If the descale icon is flashing orange, you won't be able to use your machine until you've run a descale cycle.

    • Why is there a delay between the hot shot and cold shot on a 120ml bottle?

There is a slight delay between the hot shot and the remainder of the cold water being dispensed to ensure the final feed is the perfect temperature for your baby.

    • How do I switch off my Perfect Prep® unit?

Your Perfect Prep® machine will go into standby mode after 18 minutes of inactivity. Press the power button to turn it back on when you’re ready to make a feed.

    • Why does my machine indicate I need to clean it?

Your machine is letting you know that it's time to run a cleaning cycle. You should clean your machine:

Before first use and then every 30 days.

If it hasn’t been used for 1 week or more.

      When replacing the filter.

      After descaling.

    • How do I switch the sound off on my Perfect Prep® machine?

Press and hold the 120ml and 330ml buttons at the same time for 2 seconds.

    • How do I stop my Perfect Prep® machine dispensing water?
