Getting Started

What’s in the box?

  • 1 x Perfect Prep® Pro Machine
  • 1x 150ml Natural Start™ Bottle with Slow Flow Teat
  • 1 x Milk Storage Lid
  • 1 x Tommee Tippee® Anti-bacterial Water Filter

Setting up the powder tank

You must clean the formula powder tank BEFORE first use or when indicated by the cleaning icon.

To clean the powder tank...

  • Release the catches that fasten the formula powder tank lid (F) to the base (E).
  • Disassemble the formula powder tank and wash, sterilise and dry all the parts before adding powder.

To fill the powder tank...

  • Fill the tank (E) up to the max line with your powder (roughly 400g).
  • Place the powder flow controller (G) inside the powder tank (E), aligning the notch on the controller with the raised guide on the tank. Position the flow controller nozzle through the opening in the lid (F).
  • Reattach the powder tank lid (F) and clip down the catches to secure.
  • Place the powder tank into your Perfect Prep® Pro machine, making sure the nozzle is aligned with the hole.
  • After reinserting the powder tank, the powder tank alert light (R) will automatically go out and the device is ready to use.

To store your formula powder settings...

  • Place the lower drip tray (K.ii) into the left side of the unit, ensuring it aligns with the pins. Place the upper drip tray (K.i) and bottle stand (J) on top to get the bottle as close to the outlet as possible. Place an empty bottle on the stand.
  • Select the dispense formula powder button (T) and it will illuminate.
  • Press and hold the size of feed (Q) you want to configure for 2 seconds. The dispense formula powder button will pulse yellow and the feed size will illuminate.
  • Press the dispense formula powder button (T) again to begin the weight calibration. The scales will now zero the weight of your bottle.
  • Take the bottle off the stand and manually measure the exact amount of formula powder needed for the feed size you’ve selected. Follow the instructions from your preferred brand precisely as this setting will be used for future dispensing.
  • Place the bottle with formula powder in back onto the weighing platform and press the dispense formula powder button (T) again, it will illuminate green to let you know it has successfully stored.

Your milk settings are now stored. The next time you want to prepare this bottle size with the same formula powder type, simply select it and press the formula powder dispense button and the machine will measure out the stored amount for you.

IMPORTANT: The stored setting is specific to both the bottle size and the formula powder type and brand. If you change the formula powder type or brand, you will need to reconfigure the setting to ensure accurate dispensing. The weight of the powder stored does not include the bottle or any stacking cups, so a different bottle can be used without affecting your stored settings.

How to use

Priming your filter:

Before use, make sure that any air bubbles or loose particles are removed from the filter by submerging it in water for at least 5 minutes. This is necessary to enable water to pass through the filter once it is installed in the machine.

  1. Only ever touch the top of the filter when handling.
  2. Remove the filter from its packaging and remove the sticker from the top of the filter.
Submerge the filter in a bowl filled with cold tap water.
  3. Shake and tap the base of the filter to remove any air bubbles (whilst submerged for 5 minutes).
  4. Your filter is now ready to fit into the filter hopper (C). Push downwards until it is positioned firmly.

Making a feed with your Perfect Prep® Pro machine

  1. Place your bottle as close to the powder outlet (I) as possible using the bottle stand (J) and drip tray (K) to create a surface at the correct height.
  2. Select the dispense formula powder button (T) on your machine and it will illuminate.
  3. Select the size feed you want to dispense from the setting dial (Q).
  4. Select the dispense formula powder button (T) again to dispense the powder.
  5. Your machine will now dispense the powder and the dispense formula powder button (T) with flash orange. Do not touch or lift the bottle during dispensing and wait for the green light before removing it. If the dispense formula powder button illuminates red, this indicates an error in the powder dispense and you should discard the powder in the bottle, check there’s enough powder in the powder tank and then start again.
  6. Now place your bottle under the water outlet (H), on the right-hand side, making sure the water tank (D) has enough water.
  7. After successfully dispensing the powder and removing the bottle, the machine will automatically switch to the water dispensing mode.
  8. Select your feed size from the setting dial (Q) and press the dispense water button (U) to start.
  9. A hot shot of water will be dispensed. The dispense water button (U) will flash orange while the hot shot is dispensing.
  10. Wait for the dispense water button (U) to pulse before removing the bottle. Add milk lid securely to the bottle and swirl until the formula has dissolved.
  11. Remove the lid and place your bottle back onto the stand located under the water outlet (H), press the dispense water button (U) again to dispense the remaining water. FOR SAFETY, ADD THE COLD WATER WITHIN 2 MINUTES AFTER ADDING THE HOT SHOT. IF YOU TAKE LONGER THAN 2 MINUTES OR IF YOU STOP THE CYCLE, THE POWER BUTTON WILL ILLUMINATE WHITE. DISCARD THE FEED AND REPEAT THE BOTTLE PREPARATION PROCESS FROM STEP 1.
  12. The dispense water button (U) will flash to let you know the machine is preparing to dispense. Expect a slight delay before water is dispensed.
  13. The bottle is ready when the dispense water button (U) turns green. Add the sterilised teat, screw ring and hood, and swirl.

FOR YOUR CHILD’S SAFETY, ALWAYS CHECK FOOD TEMPERATURE BEFORE FEEDING BY TESTING ON A SENSITIVE PART OF YOUR SKIN.

Your bottle is now ready to serve.

Using the feed logging settings on your Perfect Prep® Pro machine

The feed logging settings can be activated via the settings page of the Tommee Tippee® app, and once activated, it will be added to the main screen of the app.

The feed logging feature means you can store and access feed statistics within your Tommee Tippee® app to track your baby’s feeds.

For parents with more than 1 child, you can add up to 3 profiles and statistics for each profile will be logged individually.

When using multiple profiles, each one will have a corresponding colour (pink, purple or green). This will show on their profile in the app and the ‘child profile indicator’ button (P) will illuminate on the machine to show which profile the machine is currently set to.

You can switch between these profiles by pressing the ‘child profile indicator’ button (P).

With feed logging activated, your machine will automatically send the amount and time of a feed to the app to log when it is online. If offline, the machine will store it for 30 days and then upload it once connected.

Feed logging allows you to...

  • Set alarms for their routine to remind you when it's time to feed
  • Specify if your baby’s feed was milk or water only
  • Log how much of their feed they finished
  • Add feeds manually
  • Access feed statistics, which can be viewed over a day, week or month
  • Store calibration settings per child profile in the case that each child is using different types of formula

Cleaning and Maintance

How often should I clean my machine?

You should clean your Perfect Prep® Pro machine:

  • Before its first use and then every 30 days.
  • If your machine hasn’t been used for 1 week or more.
  • When replacing your filter.
  • After a de-scaling cycle

How to clean

You must run a cleaning cycle before first use or when indicated by the cleaning icon. This can take up to 10 minutes to complete.

Always remove your filter before running a cleaning cycle.

DO NOT REMOVE THE WATER JUG WHILE WATER IS BEING DISPENSED.

Now move onto priming and fitting the filter to complete the cleaning cycle. If you are not replacing with a new filter, move straight to step 3 of filter replacement.

How to replace the filter

Your Perfect Prep® Pro machine needs a filter to work correctly. Replacement filters are available from the Tommee Tippee website.

You should not reset your filter counter (M) unless you are replacing it with a brand new filter.

  1. Prime your filter by submerging it upright in a bowl of cold tap water. Tap the base of the filter to remove any air bubbles for 5 minutes.
  2. Insert the new filter into the filter hopper and insert the filter hopper (C) into the water tank.
  3. Fill the filter hopper to the maximum level with cold tap water.
  4. Place the lid (A) on the water tank (D) and add to your Perfect Prep® Pro machine.
  5. Place an empty container under the water outlet (H).
  6. Press and hold the filter replacement button (M) for 2 seconds, the cleaning light will illuminate.
  7. Press the cleaning button (L) for 2 seconds to flush the remaining water.
  8. Wait for the water to run through the machine. DO NOT REMOVE THE WATER JUG WHILE WATER IS BEING DISPENSED. DISCARD THE WATER.

How to descale your machine

The ‘calc’ or descaling icon (N) will illuminate when the unit requires descaling soon. If the light flashes, you should descale immediately.

The descaling process will remove deposits of calcium and other minerals in the system that may affect its performance.

  1. Remove the filter (B), always making sure to place it on a clean surface.
  2. Put the water tank (D) in place.
  3. Add 500ml of white vinegar to the water tank (D).
  4. Put an empty container under the water outlet (H).
  5. Press and hold the descale button (N) for 2 seconds. If you need to pause, press the button again. Press and hold the same button for 2 seconds if you need to cancel.
  6. The descale cycle will stop and start to allow the vinegar to clean the machine. This is normal. When complete, pour the vinegar away.

The machine may make a loud sound for around 10 seconds at the end of the descale cycle. This is normal.

RUN THE CLEANING CYCLE TWICE TO REMOVE ANY REMAINING VINEGAR IN THE SYSTEM. SEE CLEANING CYCLE INSTRUCTIONS.

Support FAQ's

To reset your Perfect Prep®machine’s Bluetooth connection, just press and hold the Bluetooth button for 2 seconds and then follow the instructions in the app to pair.

Your machine may be too close to other electricals (like a microwave), which can interfere with the coverage. Move it away from these devices, then try to connect again.

Your phone could be in battery-saving mode. Make sure it's fully charged and not trying to conserve power.

Your phone's location services could be turned off. You'll need to switch these on for everything to work properly.

Finally, check the Tommee Tippee App Bluetooth (BLE) permissions are enabled in your settings.

Your Perfect Prep® machine should be kept in a cool, dry place that’s out of direct sunlight and away from warm appliances. This will help the water tank stay cool.

Your Perfect Prep® machine will go into standby mode after 18 minutes of inactivity. Press the power button to turn it back on when you’re ready to make a feed.

No, we recommend you use normal tap water in the hopper. If you do use boiling water, the machine will recognise that the water is too hot, and it won’t let you dispense a feed as the milk would be too hot and pose a risk to your baby.

The 70°C hot shot helps to dissolve the formula powder quickly and easily, it also kills bacteria which may be present in the formula itself. Giving you extra peace of mind that your baby’s feed is safe.

On average the filter should last around 3 months, however this depends on the frequency of use and what size bottles you are preparing.

The Tommee Tippee filters include an anti-bacterial filtration membrane which has been verified as being as effective as boiling water for removing bacteria. So, although other water filters will fit your machine, they will NOT remove the same level of bacteria.

Therefore, it’s extremely important that you make sure you’re buying and using the correct Tommee Tippee filters with your Perfect Prep machine.

Find out more about the testing results and what makes our filters more effective here.

Submerging primes the filter before use, ensuring that any air bubbles or loose particles within the filter are removed prior to use. If bubbles remain, it could affect the operation of the machine.

You may find that there’s a small residue of black carbon in the bag or on the surface of the cartridge; this can happen and it’s nothing to be concerned about. These dust particles are harmless and will be reduced during the initial set up process when submerging in clean fresh water.

The carbon used in the filter is food grade certified and therefore poses no harm to your little one

Water is a food stuff. We recommend using it within 1-2 days. If you haven’t used your machine in the last 7 days, we recommend running a cleaning cycle.

If quality of the water flow dispense becomes poor, you should run a descale cycle.

As is normal with all manufactured products, the Perfect Prep® Pro machine's dispensed water volume has an allowed tolerance of +/- 5%. Additionally, there are potential tolerances in the measurement graduations of our Closer to Nature, Natural Start® and Advanced Anti-Colic baby bottles.

This means that any volume below 100 ml may vary by +/- 5 ml, and any volume above 100 ml may vary by +/- 5%. It’s therefore possible for the combination of both tolerances, machine, and bottle, to make the volume dispensed by the machine appear inaccurate.

Our Closer to Nature, Natural Start® and Advanced Anti-Colic baby bottles all meet or surpass the requirements for volume tolerances as specified by European Standard EN 14350.

Although we do not manufacture formula powder, we have looked at what the leading brands recommend and most assume that a 9lb+ baby will be on 120ml feeds. It is difficult to recommend a "suitable from" age because every newborn’s weight is different. Some babies are onto 120ml feeds within a couple of weeks, whereas others may take longer.

We would love for you to be able to prepare a smaller bottle volume with the Perfect Prep™ unit, but it cannot make up a bottle below 4oz because the volume of the feed needs to be large enough to easily split into two:

- An initial hot shot big enough to dilute the formula into
- A dilution big enough to dilute the hot down to body temperature ready to serve

For any smaller feeds, we don’t have enough hot water in which to dilute the formula powder effectively, or enough to dilute and cool it down sufficiently from 70°C.

The Perfect Prep unit contains a probe that measures the temperature of the water in the tank which prevents the unit from dispensing if the water is above 27°C. This is a key safety feature to ensure that the final feed is not too hot for your baby.

High water temperature should only ever be an issue in hotter climates, but it is not uncommon for mains water to rise in temperature in cooler climates during a sustained period of hot weather.

We therefore recommend that the cold tap is flushed for 10 seconds before filling the tank.

To prevent your unit getting too hot…

Keep it out of direct sunlight.
Regularly top it up with cold tap water rather than letting a full unit stand and warm for long periods of time.
Keep a cold jug of water in the fridge.
Add some ice cubes to the hopper.

The only time we would expect this warning light to come on is during the cleaning mode, when you flush the unit with boiled water. Thereafter, you should only ever fill your unit with cold water from the tap.

Yes. Perfect Prep® Pro machines pass all appropriate standards for electrical baby products and are designed to make the lives of parents simpler.

To ensure safety, Perfect Prep® Pro machines make a fresh formula feed using a unique, patented four-stage process.

Step 1: The integrated scales make measuring the right amount of milk powder easy and accurate, helping ensure each feed is prepared safely and correctly.

Step 2: The water used to make the feed passes through a filter that removes bacteria and other impurities. Bacteria are removed using an ultra-filtration membrane which has openings that are smaller than bacteria and therefore form a physical barrier that stops any bacteria in the tap water from passing into the machine. Tommee Tippee Perfect Prep® Pro filters areas effective as boiling the kettle when it comes to removing bacteria, as tested and verified by an independent laboratory.

Step 3: Once the water is safely purified, a baby bottle containing formula powder is placed on the machine, and ‘hot shot’ of water is dispensed into it so it can kill any bacteria in the formula powder.

Step 4: The Perfect Prep® Pro machine then completes the bottle feed by dispensing a measured quantity of cool water. The machine is perfectly calibrated to ensure that the total volume of the feed is perfect, and that the combination of the patented hot shot and the second dispense results in a body temperature bottle feed.

Yes, the machine is designed to be safe for use with all major baby milk powder brands.

Perfect Prep® Pro heats water to a temperature that is carefully calibrated to strike the right balance between preserving the nutritional quality of the formula, particularly its protein content, and effectively killing any harmful bacteria that may be present in the powder.

There is a slight delay between the hot shot and the remainder of the cold water being dispensed to ensure the final feed is the perfect temperature for your baby.

If this is the first time you are using your Perfect Prep® Pro you must run a cleaning cycle before you can use the machine.

If the water level icon is orange, you need to fill the water tank with more water before you can make a feed.

If the filter replacement icon is flashing orange, you won't be able to use your machine until you've fitted a fresh filter.

If you're having trouble removing the powder tank, try switching the machine off and then on again. This will reset the system and may release the tank.

Yes, you can use any bottle. The Perfect Prep® Pro has built-in scales that automatically tare the weight to zero once the stacking cup and bottle are in place. This means it only measures the powder, not the bottle or cup, so you’ll always get the correct amount, regardless of which bottle you use.

As with any other method of making up a feed for a baby, it’s essential that good hygiene practices are observed when using and maintaining your Perfect Prep® Pro machine. Your machine is letting you know that it's time to run a cleaning cycle. You should clean your machine:

  • Before first use and then every 30 days.
  • If it hasn’t been used for 1 week or more.
  • When replacing the filter.
  • After descaling.

Your wearable pump uses a sensor to estimate how much milk you've pumped. This can be affected by several things like milk consistency (foremilk vs. hindmilk), movement, angle of use and sensor interference.

Make sure the small black sensor is free of debris and sit or stand upright at the end of your session for best results.

For more accurate insights, we recommend using the markings on the collector bottle and adjusting the in-app slider to match the amount of milk you've pumped.
