Thank you for purchasing Tommee Tippee Nipple Shields. This product support page is here to help you learn how to use, clean and care for your shields, and to help with any queries you may have.

The intended use of the Tommee Tippee Nipple Shields is to protect sore breasts during breastfeeding. Before using your nipple shields, please ensure that you read these instructions thoroughly. Please keep this information sheet for future reference as it includes important information.

  • How to use

    • Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water.
    • Clean the breast and surrounding area.
    • Do not use soap or alcohol, which can dry the skin and cause cracked nipples.
    • Moisten the shield with water as this will help it stick to the skin.
    • Push the shield almost inside out and place the shield gently over the nipple.
    • Ensure the shield sits comfortably over the nipple and does not move before offering your baby the breast.
    • After feeding, remove the nipple shield.
    • AFTER EACH USE: Handwash nipple shields in warm soapy water. Rinse with clean water. Dry with a clean towel.

  • How to use the steriliser case

    1. Open the steriliser case. For best results, using a suitable measure, pour 25ml of water into one part of the steri-case.
    2. Clip it together to close.
    3. Microwave on full power for 90 seconds.
    4. Allow to cool for at least 2 minutes before handling.
    5. Open steri-case and carefully, keeping hands and body away from the opening to prevent scalding from any escape of steam, pour away any leftover water.
    6. Use the lid to prevent the sterilised nipple shields from falling out.
    7. Remove the nipple shields when required, taking care not to touch the teat.
    8. Drain the case fully before re-use.

  • HELP – THERE’S NO OR VERY LITTLE SUCTION. WHAT CAN I DO?

It’s most likely that there’s some air getting in somewhere, which means the pump won’t work properly.

    • Make sure that the horn forms a comfortable seal around your breast. Adjust your position if you need to.
    • Check that the diaphragm cup is sitting on the top of the pump body. Make sure it’s been pushed down all the way around the top of the circumference to make a good seal.
    • Check that the connector rod is sitting properly in the diaphragm cup. The rod should be pushed through so that the big part sits under, and the small part sits above the base of the diaphragm.
    • Check that there are no tears on the diaphragm cup.
    • Check the valve is clean and opens easily. Give it a gentle squeeze if it’s stuck.
  • WHY DO I HAVE TO USE A TOMMEE TIPPEE BOTTLE?

The Tommee Tippee® Made for Me manual breast pump is designed to be a perfect fit for Tommee Tippee bottles and pouches (excludes Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature® Glass bottles). You may get leaks and spills if you use other brands of bottles and containers that don’t fit correctly.
